# Introduction and How To Use

Ever wondered what those MC, M+, M-, and MR buttons actually do? No, they aren't just for decoration. These are "Memory" features that allow you to store and reuse fraction results without typing them all over again.

Here's how to use them:

**Add (M+)**:\
Think of this as "Add to Cart." When you have a result on the screen, clicking M+ will add that fraction to the memory storage. If the memory was empty, it just saves it. If there was already a number there, it adds the new one to the old one.

**Subtract (M-)**:\
The opposite of M+.\
This will subtract the current result on your screen from whatever is currently saved in the memory.

**Recall (MR)**:\
The "Paste" button.\
Clicking MR will bring the stored fraction from the memory back onto your main screen. Use this when you need to use a previous result in a new calculation.

**Clear (MC)**:\
The "Reset" button.\
This wipes the memory storage clean (sets it back to 0). Use this when you're starting a completely new problem and don't want old results messing things up.

**Note**:\
The Memory can only store one value, so you can't store 2 values and Add or Subtract them, instead, you can add or subtract the value in memory and the results of the calculation in your main [workspace](https://ashyraffa.gitbook.io/fractioncalc-docs/getting-started/how-to-use#main-container). In FractionCalc, the memory can store mixed or simple fractions, both of them. Simple right?
